The Winton Woods High School Varsity Ensemble received a rating of "1" or "Superior" in Class AA on Saturday, May 2 at the Ohio Music Educator’s Association (OMEA) state competition. Groups that participate in state-level competition are evaluated on a scale from 1-5 according to the difficulty level of the music performed. Class AA is the most difficult level of competition, class C is the easiest.

High School Choir Contest Results - March 2009
The Ohio Music Education Association District XIV band and choir competition was held this past weekend at Harrison and Glen Este high schools. I am pleased to say that Winton Woods City Schools have continued our unbroken streak of qualifying a choir for OMEA state level competition for the last 35+ consecutive years. The Winton Woods HS Varsity Ensemble was awarded unanimous I's, or the highest "Superior" rating in class AA. The Concert Choir received a II or "Outstanding" rating in class B. And the combined Freshman Chorus and Chorale got a III or "good" rating in class C. State contest is May 2nd.

Winton Woods Marching Band Recyles Uniforms for Fundraiser
The Winton Woods Marching Band is selling some of its history to raise money for new uniforms this fall. "The band pillows we're selling are made from old band uniforms, and all money goes to new marching band uniforms," said Band Director Dani Ashbrook. The cost of the pillows is $40 each. They come in "button front" and "block W front" designs."

Besides student fundraising, the Winton Woods Music Boosters are paying for half of the new uniforms. "But $15,000 is still needed," said Ashbrook, "so we're selling the band pillows."

Delivery of the pillows will take 4-6 weeks from the time of order. Checks should be made out to Winton Woods High School and orders sent to Band Director Dani Ashbrook, Winton Woods High School, 1231 W. Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45240. Those with questions should call Dani Ashbrook at 619-2437 or email ashbrook.danelle@wintonwoods.org.
